FAQ
Are bamboo dish brushes better than sponges?
Bamboo naturally has an antibacterial effect. The natural bristles are easier to clean and keep dry, compared to sponges. This means bacteria is less likely to grow in the brushes.
Why do bamboo dish brushes need extra care?
These bamboo brushes are made from all natural fibres, free of varnish, so that they are 100% plastic free and biodegradable. This also means the bristles are not as strong compared to synthetic bristles, and the bamboo base can get molded easily due to the contact with water.
If you decide to switch to this plastic-free alternative, you’ll need to be mindful when using these brushes. Two simple, yet most important things you can do: brush gently; air dry them after each use.
How to care for your bamboo dish brushes?
Keeping them dry: After each use, hand wash the brush to rinse out the food. Shake off water or dry with a clean tea towel. Hang brushes in a dry place or place them straight in a jar. Make sure bristles are not in contact with water.
Keeping them for longer: Be mindful, use them gently. Do not use to scrub off stubborn marks or burnt pot. Use only the scrubbing brush to scrub pots and pans.
Are they dishwasher safe?
No. Please only hand wash your brush and air dry them to avoid molding.
Can I compost them in my compost bin?
Absolutely! It’ll take some time for the product to biodegrade, so be patient. You can also return your brush to us for composting.
How do I return the brushes when they wear out?
If you’re refilling our products, simply put them together with your empty jars. We’ll collect them altogether. The old brushes will be composted at an industrial facility.
